Earthquake and tsunami disasters happened in the South Island, New Zealand. On the 13th of November 2016, Wellington and Christchurch regions were badly affected. Roads, houses, buildings and more got destroyed plus, a power cut had happened in the areas. The local people had to move inland or into higher grounds for their own safety of the upcoming aftermath of a tsunami. It was reported that two people died from a collapsing of a house during the earthquake event. It was also reported that the earthquake was 7.8 magnitude which then triggered waves up to 8 feet higher than usual. From my research, the reasoning's for these destructive disasters to happen to our country is that, we are in the Collision Zone which means that these events were not the first occurring as our history of disasters have been ongoing. For a tip: When an earthquake happens you should always not go outside of the house or you might get badly injured. And lastly, fora tsunami occurring it's always best for you and your family to get into a higher place like a mountain or hill, any place away from the sea/ocean.
