Road patrol - Lesson 1 Part 1

On Wednesday at 9:00 o’clock we had a meeting in the library with a police officer called Constable Teina. She looked liked an ordinary police officer but she yelled a lot when we made a mistake! Also as she yelled a lot, she told us to just ignore when she was yelling and to forget about everything so we can concentrate. Everyone looked liked they passed the test that Constable Teina gave us. That was the end of our first lesson of road patrol.

Running, Jumping and last but not least Throwing!

On Wednesday we went to our final Run, Jump, Throw session. Lots of people were enjoying themselves playing lots of fun mini games that Coach Declan set up for the whole class. When we were playing a game called “Clean the Room”, the aim of the game is that you have nine beanbags or let’s call it “Toys” for now, so with those beanbags you have to throw those beanbags to another area which is called their “base” and you have to have the least beanbags than your rivals. After we played, Clean the Room we were playing, shot putt, but this was no ordinary shot putt. We had to throw the shot putt balls to the the cricket wicket, and the first one to score higher points than other people they win!

Earthquake and tsunami disasters happened in the South Island, New Zealand. On the 13th of November 2016, Wellington and Christchurch regions were badly affected. Roads, houses, buildings and more got destroyed plus, a power cut had happened in the areas. The local people had to move inland or into higher grounds for their own safety of the upcoming aftermath of a tsunami. It was reported that two people died from a collapsing of a house during the earthquake event. It was also reported that the earthquake was 7.8 magnitude which then triggered waves up to 8 feet higher than usual. From my research, the reasoning's for these destructive disasters to happen to our country is that, we are in the Collision Zone which means that these events were not the first occurring as our history of disasters have been ongoing. For a tip: When an earthquake happens you should always not go outside of the house or you might get badly injured. And lastly, fora tsunami occurring it's always best for you and your family to get into a higher place like a mountain or hill, any place away from the sea/ocean.

Manakalani film festival

On Wednesday we went to the Manakalani film festival at Syliva park in the Hoyts and we watched about…  10 to 15 movies. Our presenters were great and confident, what I liked about the film was about how many students and we saw kids that we have seen before!

My favourite was when students drawing equipment out of chalk!

Botanical Gardens!

On Thursday we went to the Botanical Gardens and we got split up into two groups which the two groups had to split up again into two more groups which had a tablet and a camera. First we went to the edible gardens which was great! And when we saw all of the plants, they were all beautiful and nice! We heard birds chirping and singing, we heard people talking about how beautiful the plants and flowers were! After looking at most of the great and spectacular areas, It looked like we were in a forest biome! Which was pretty awesome but at the same time it was scary! When we were walking in the so called ‘’forest biome’’ it was great and nice! After we were looking at all plants we went back to school!

My Imaginary Creature!

Blazer razor likes to go to school
But he thinks he is way too cool
He has smelly toes up his smelly  nose,
Well guess what? I DID NOT KNOW!
Everyone needs a pill
So they can stop being angry and chill!
Blazer is away for too long
And he always does things wrong!
His nickname is Hairy
but he is way too scary
He is my imaginary creature!
And that is why I'm so happy!

Going to the Zoo, zoo, zoo How about you, you, you?

When we went to the zoo we saw so many animals! Even, we saw animals that we haven't seen before! I was in  Mr Meyer’s group with the rest of the room 10 boys and we saw a lot of animals, but we did NOT see ALL of the animals which was pretty sad but it was okay, Anyway we saw lots of animals, my favorite part was when we saw the ostriches and we had these puppets that were giraffes that  Frazer gave us! And the puppet showed us how long was the  giraffes tongue was!
It was so cool! It had a long blue tongue,
and after that i smelt animal food, I heard echoing, from that parrot  and then I saw an alligator!
And then we ate lunch and when we were eating we saw elephants! Then we did so much walking that my feet were almost asleep and then we went back to School! So that's what I did at the zoo

Maths time!

When I came back from being sick we had to do maths which was amazing! We made 3D cubes. We had to use stick and straws which I was so excited to do. I was working with Saluselo and Shakaia. Then I made another 3D shape. That's what I learnt about for maths.

Gardening is amazing!

Tuesday 28th June: What I did this morning was ten of room ten went to Vector Arena and seven of room ten had to stay behind to help Mrs Buchanan with gardening and I was one of them. We had to do a plan about gardening so yeah we had to do some maths while gardening. Robati was writing stuff about plants that Mrs Buchanan bought from Bunnings Warehouse. The plants that Mrs Buchanan bought were lavender, Buchananii grasses and some other plants. After we planned about gardening stuff, we had morning tea and then we actually started to garden finally! Me, Robati and Solomone were planting some plants that looked like a bunch of little grass. The last bit we had to do was we had to water the plants and, yes, we did take a bunch of photos. Anyways where was I? Oh yes, as Mrs Buchanan was taking some photos we watered the plants a little bit too much. When Suli watered it some more, the Vector people came back. So, gardening was what I did this morning!

Snag golf 2016

snag golf 2016.jpg
On Thursday we went to the court to go to play snag golf with a man called Jae. When we were playing snag golf Jae ordered us to throw the sticky tennis balls onto the number 1 target to get one snag. Afterwards we had to use the tennis balls to roll into the hula hoops instead of rolling it to the number 1 target. Pupuke, Alex and me got 5 snags. Awesome work by the green team! So we went on to the last activity and we had to use the golf club to hit the tennis ball and we got 7 snags which was outstanding! I hope we can do something amazing next Thursday!

Chromebook going home!

On Thursday my mum and my dad came to Room 10 at Ruapotaka School to see some of my Cybersmart things, answer the survey and sign the piece of paper to take my Chromebook home. A lot of parents came to see their children’s learning things and their blogs. At the end my mum and dad took some pictures on my Chromebook. My mum and dad said bye and went home. After that me and Suli were munching on the crackers and cheese and drinking juice. When we were done eating, we went on Skoolbo and Studyladder.
